On the 4th April, 2009 Maurice Rose from the Suffolk Guild of Ringers presented Albert Driver with a plaque celebrating 80 years of bell ringing.
Last September was the 80th Harvest Festival Albert had rung at St Mary's Redgrave. This milestone was marked with a quarter peal of 1260 Grandsire Doubles and commemorated on the Peal Board which was presented last month. It is amazing to think that whenever people have listened to the bells during that time it's likely Albert was pulling one of the ropes. Even today at 94 he can still climb the steps to the ringing chamber and put his latest recruits through their paces.
