Thursday 3rd October 2024
The first Saturday in August saw us continue the successful format of having simultaneous quarter peal attempts, followed by a meal. This year there were attempts at: Ashbocking, Clopton, Helmingham and Otley. Unfortunately the attempt at Helmingham was not successful. However, the three other attempts were and, moreover, it is pleasing to see two firsts At Ashbocking Tess Styles rang her first quarter peal, trebling to Plain Bob Doubles; very well done. At Otley Matt Newson rang his first inside, ringing Plain Bob Doubles; again, well done. At Clopton a quarter of Cambridge was scored.
The vast majority of those attempting quarters, in addition to a few others, gathered together afterwards at The White Hart, Otley, for an enjoyable meal - my thanks to Kate Eagle for her excellent arrangements. Thank you, too, to Ruth Munnings for her assistance in organising the towers. I think it is fair to say that, once again, this evening has proven to be an excellent occasion; long may it continue.
